The nonpartisan group said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s core funding has dropped more than $580 million since 2010, while federal funding provided to the states in crisis has stayed relatively flat.
North Carolina receives $14.08 per person in federal funding for public health programs, ranking the state 44th in the United States.
Median spending is $31 to $62 per person.
