— A Sampson County man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl surrendered at the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Monday.

Tyler Jamarr Wortham, 26, of 225 Sunshine Lake in Clinton, was charged with statutory rape, taking indecent liberties with a minor, crimes against nature and statutory sex offense.

Investigators said Wortham forced the girl to take money from an ATM and then drove her to a motel in Fayetteville. The girl told police she was forced to engage in sexual acts with Wortham on Wednesday and Thursday.

He is being held in the Cumberland County jail on a $202,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Wortham was placed on probation last November for a common-law robbery conviction in Sampson County, according to state Department of Correction records.

wildcat...i swear you take joy in getting people worked up with your posts! (you are engaging...) However: NC law states that Statutory Rape is sex w/someone 13, 14 or 15 years old and the person with them is FOUR or more years older. It also states that even if the younger person agrees to or asks for sex, it is a crime for the older person to take part. This CHILD can't consent at 13. This ADULT should never have been near her if he is 26 years old. That's waaayyyyyyyy past the 4 year statute. And yes, I'm very certain a complete sexual assault kit and "DNA swab" was collected from her.

I do agree with you asking about if her parent's noted she was missing comment....

Do the young girl realize the trouble she has gotten this young man in since she may have been a willing partner who now crys wolf.

Did the young lady lie about her age to this young man? That may be a problem right there. Trying to be an adult before her time.

Did the parents miss this young lady doing all this time? Sounds like the young lady may be lying. Was a DNA sample taken from the girl? If not, why not?

An article indicates that a gay beating is classified as a hate crime.
How about this one, is it also a hate crime.

what creimes are not hate crimes.

He has already been arested for robbery so its the courts fault for letting him out. If the jails full its time to execute some prisoners.
