Rape, kidnap suspect caught in Fayetteville

Posted June 14, 2010

— Fayetteville authorities arrested a man Monday who was wanted in connection with the rape and kidnapping of a woman there.

Eric Markeith Brown, of 1114 Norwood St., 22, was taken into custody Monday morning, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said.

Investigators say Brown coerced the woman into a vehicle and would not allow her to leave. The woman said that when she tried to get out of the car at a stoplight, Brown busted her lip and then drove to a local motel where he raped her.

He will be sent to the mens prison. I am happy to report there are no females there for him to harm.

I cannot understand for the life of me, why SOME men take advantage of women. This is why the courts should give this man 50 years in prison. Meanwhile, at the motel did no one hear or see anything? Did the woman even try screaming? Ladies be very careful in the men you choose to come into your life. There are some men who are very dangerous.

he 'busted her lip'? that's mighty fine reporting right there, lol. what ever happened to formalities in reporting the news?

What concerns me is if he drove to a local motel and raped her that no one noticed or heard anything if they were in the parking lot. I would be pretty safe in thinking that he didn't actually get a room because hopefully she really would have made a scene so the desk attendant would help. Unless we were there we wouldn't know.

"For those who wrote that she could have run or escaped: you don't know the details of the story and unless you've been kidnapped and or/raped yourself you don't know how paralyzing fear can be in this kind of situation." spacecowgirl73

She wasn't too paralyzed with fear because she tried to escape once... I don't know all the facts but the facts presented here are a little weird to me...
