Raleigh teen charged with making sex tape

Posted July 2, 2013

— An Enloe High School student faces charges after police said he made a sex tape with another teen.

Rayquan Andrew Williams, 16, of 2701 Community Drive in Raleigh, was charged Monday with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and resisting a public officer.

Police said Williams had sex with a 15-year-old girl in Cary and videotaped the encounter without her knowledge.

He was making child porn, let's see what he gets charged with.

Pretty clearly he was showing this video to other people. In several cases like this, girls have committed suicide. It's as bad as rape.

"Why are we prosecuting these young men who are only doing what young people do. It's just wrong."

I don't think all young people video sex without consent. That's pretty depraved and has grave implications. Kinda like rape....without consent! And he resisted n officer! He needs to be prosecuted. I just hope he learns his lesson.

Its really sickening to read people defending him!

He shouldn't have taken the video without her knowledge, but let's be honest, young men's lives are being ruined by the sex offender designation every day now, and the problem is, the "girls aren't saying no, they are just as much at fault. This is a common teenage thing, kids have been having sex forever. Why are we prosecuting these young men who are only doing what young people do. It's just wrong." - girlwonder

While this is true, since the boy is under the age of 18, he won't be charged as a sex offender. He's charged with video tapping their sexual encounter without her knowledge or permission. Supposedly, anyway. Who knows. Maybe she said he could, and then changed her mind when he showed it to someone she didn't want seeing it. You never know.

Just like a teenage hormonal little boy...couldn't keep the video to himself! I agree that he was wrong for taping the act without her consent however, he did this to himself. Can't trust everyone who says they are your "friend"! smh

"And why should this boy shoulder all the blame?" - paulacapell

From the story, it seems that the boy is the one that actually broke the law.

Folks - there are 2 issues here. The issue of 2 underage teenagers having sex and then the issue of taping it without her consent. Their having underage sex is a teenage thing and he is not being charged with that. Taping the sex without her consent is the key charge. Sorry but that is not a common teenage thing and he is going to have to face the judge on that. Likewise, the girl shouldn't be charged as she didn't make the video. As far as the girl's parents, this was a unfortunate wakeup call and hopefully they'll get the message to be more involved now.

Well there goes another boys life ruined while the girl walks away scott free and her parents aren't even checked out. Why did they not know where she was and what she was doing? And why should this boy shoulder all the blame?

  • mckangst Jul 2, 2013

Why is it not a crime for her to consent to sex without parental guidance with someone who is known to carry video surveillance equipment (webcams and/or mobile phone)

Isn't it a felony to record someone without their knowledge?
