Raleigh shooting kills 18-year-old

Shortly before midnight, officers on foot patrol heard gunfire and went in the direction of the sounds. Callers helped them pinpoint the location of the shooting at a house at 500 Haywood St.

Raleigh shooting kills 18-year-old
RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man dead Monday night.

Shortly before midnight, officers on foot patrol heard gunfire and went in the direction of the sounds. Callers helped them pinpoint the location of the shooting at a house at 500 Haywood St.

There, officers found Rodriquez D’Shay Burrell, who had been shot several times. Emergency crews took him to WakeMed, where he died shortly thereafter, police said.

Burrell was visiting someone at the house when he was shot, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s Detective Division at 919-996-3555 or Crime Stoppers at 919-226-CRIME. Callers to Crime Stoppers may remain anonymous and the organization pays cash rewards for tips that help to solve cases.
