Raleigh rezones US 401 site for mixed-use project

The Raleigh City Council voted 7-1 Tuesday to approve rezoning land on Louisburg Road just north of Interstate 540 for a mixed-use development.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh City Council voted 7-1 Tuesday to approve rezoning land on Louisburg Road just north of Interstate 540 for a mixed-use development.

Council members also approved a master plan for the 402-acre 5401 North project, which will include up to 2,250 single- and multi-family residential units, 1.6 million square feet of office and commercial space, a middle school and a community park.

Councilman Thomas Crowder was the lone vote against the plan.
