Raleigh Raises Fines for Illegal Parking

— The Raleigh City Council on Tuesday raised the fines for parking illegally in the city.

Council members approved an ordinance that increases parking ticket fines from $12 to $15.

The fine for parking illegally in certain safety zones increased from $20 to $25.

The city's current budget anticipated the increase.

    I'm surprised that folks are upset about this. The fine seems pretty reasonable to me. I wonder how much parking tickets cost in other cities?

    This will hurt a lot of people who work or visit downtown frequently. Now that they have all this construction going on it is difficult to find a good spot. You either have to waste gas looking for a spot or walk from a far distance. If they are going to raise the fines at least provide sufficient parking.

    Parking is the Key and ONLY KEY to downtown Raleigh.
    1. can one park CLOSE to where one wants to go?
    2. is parking Extremely Safe? not safe...Extremely Safe.
    3. is there Overwhelming Lighting for those (me)
    who can't see as good as everyone else?
