RALEIGH, N.C. — Police asked for the public's help Monday to identify a man suspected of trying to hold up two businesses over the weekend.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, the man entered Raleigh Gold Estate Jewelry, at 6301-A Falls of Neuse Road, with a robbery note in his hand. An employee was on the telephone, and the man left without taking any money, police said.

A few minutes later, the same man walked into the Rite Aid Pharmacy at 6325 Falls of Neuse Road and again displayed a robbery note to an employee. Police said he again fled before taking any cash.

The man is described as white, in his 30s or 40s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a growth of graying stubble on his face. He was wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers and a blue-and-white baseball cap with the word "Colts" on its front.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has information that might help investigators is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP.
