— Police are investigating the death of a 4-month-old baby last month.

Officers were called to 5722 Palomino Drive in Raleigh on Nov. 14 in response to a report that an infant wasn't breathing, according to an affidavit for a search warrant. According to the affidavit, the person caring for the child told officers that the baby choked on formula.

The unidentified child died at Rex Hospital. Police are waiting on autopsy results to determine the cause of death.

Officers seized a baby bottle containing four ounces of white liquid, a pink wash cloth, a white baby wipe, a pink onesie and a pink sleeper form the home, according to the search warrant.

I'm thinking the bottle was propped up too. Although, the baby could have suffered from reflux which can cause a baby to choke after the she finished the bottle. My son had reflux and we had to keep him upright for 30 minutes after each feeding.

Choked on formula? I wonder if the person "watching" the baby had the bottle propped up instead of holding the baby to feed it? Too few details at this time, I reckon, to speculate.
