RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh motorcyclist died shortly after midnight Sunday when his bike ran off a ramp from Capital Boulevard and crashed into a tree.

Police said that Jibrey Thomas, 33, lost control of his 2006 Honda bike while going 60 mph around a curve on the off ramp from southbound Capital Boulevard to Wade Avenue. The bike struck a tree off the left side of the ramp, tossing him off.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his helmet wasn't secured and came off.

Police were conducting tests to see if alcohol was a factor.
