Raleigh mother charged with DWI, child abuse

Cary police charged a 25-year-old Raleigh woman with misdemeanor child abuse for having her son in the car while she was allegedly driving while impaired overnight.

CARY, N.C. — Cary police charged a 25-year-old Raleigh woman with misdemeanor child abuse for having her son in the car while she was allegedly driving while impaired overnight.

Tanessa Shanise Brinson, 25, of 3111 Woods Place, also faces one charge of assaulting a police officer inflicting serious injury.

An warrant says that Brinson struck a police officer in the face and bit her arm while the officer was taking her to the station for DWI testing.

Her son who was in the vehicle was under 16 years old, according to the warrant.
