Raleigh mother accused of beating 8-month-old child

A Raleigh mother was charged Friday with severely beating her 8-month-old child in late October.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh mother was charged Friday with severely beating her 8-month-old child in late October. 

According to an arrest warrant, Trista Denise Miles, 22, fractured her child's skull and caused other serious injuries in an incident on Oct. 24. The child also suffered broken ribs, a broken leg, a laceration to the pancreas and a bruised liver and spleen, according to police.

Miles faces one count of child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. 

She was in the Wake County jail Saturday under a $200,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday.
