Raleigh man charged with abusing 3-year-old boy he was babysitting

A Raleigh man is facing child abuse charges after he allegedly hurt a 3-year-old boy, according to an arrest warrant.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man is facing child abuse charges after he hurt a 3-year-old boy he was caring for, according to an arrest warrant.

Ryan Matthew Bushey, 34, was charged with child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. According to an arrest warrant, on Nov. 8, Bushey assaulted the child, leaving "numerous bruises" on the boy's "face, neck, back, left armpit, right chest and abdomen" and genitals.

The warrant confirms Bushey is a family friend of the boy's mother and was supervising the child at the time of the incident.

According to the warrant, the boy calls Bushey "Uncle Ryan."

Bushey, whose bond was set at $200,000, was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Information on the condition of the child was not released.
