RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities were searching Monday evening for a missing 29-year-old Raleigh man who is believed to have a cognitive impairment.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Anthony Frenshawn Allen around 8:15 p.m.

Allen was last seen by family members at 1450 Sawyer Road in Raleigh on Oct. 2. He is black, with medium-length black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue coat and tan Timberland shoes.

Police said there are no indications that foul play was involved in his disappearance, but he takes medication that he is not believed to have with him.

Anyone with information on Allen's whereabouts is asked to call police at 919-996-3335.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system to quickly notify the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
