Raleigh fire truck crashes, slams into tree
Four Raleigh firefighters were involved in a crash Wednesday evening while responding to an emergency call. Their pumper slammed into a tree just before 7 p.m. on St. Albans Drive, near Hardimont Road.

"Engine 9 was one of the engines we sent on the response, but they never made it,” Raleigh Fire Chief John McGrath said.
McGrath said Engine 9 was rounding a corner on St. Albans Drive when it hit a patch of mud on the road. The driver lost control.
"They skidded for approximately 100 yards, hit a guardrail and the apparatus flipped over,” McGrath said.
The men inside the truck were not seriously injured, McGrath said.
Traffic was backed up along St. Albans Drive until the fire truck was towed. The pumper sustained significant damage but can be repaired, McGrath said.
