RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man suffered a medical condition Thursday afternoon before his car ran off the road and struck a tree, killing him, police said.

Thomas Perry Jr., 48, was driving a 2006 Dodge sedan west on Martin Luther King Boulevard, when it drifted across the intersection with Rock Quarry Road, according to the wreck report. The car ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree head-on.

Perry was taken to WakeMed, where he died.

Police did not specify what medical condition he suffered from. They said alcohol and drugs were not factors.
