Police: Speed, alcohol factors in Wilson wreck

WILSON, N.C. — Police say speed and alcohol were factors when a minivan collided with a fence Thursday night in Wilson.

The wreck happened around 7:10 p.m. near the intersection of Phillip Street and Norris Boulevard.

The driver, Corey Lamont Parker, 29, of 211 York St., was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and driving while license revoked.

The front seat passenger, 29-year-old Jonathan Chatman, was injured when he was struck by a fence post in the collision. He remains in critical condition.
