Police: Missing Burlington woman's remains found in Virginia

Halifax County, Va. — Burlington police on Saturday said they believe the remains of a 90-year-old woman who went missing Sept. 10 have been found in southern Virginia.

Authorities found the Cadillac Deville belonging to Ruzie Dixon Suggs Saturday around 6:30 a.m. in a rural area of Halifax County, Virginia. The remains found in the car, which police believe to be Suggs, were sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Richmond, Virginia for identification.

Authorities also found a dog inside the car Saturday. It was being held by Animal Control in Halifax County until it could be claimed.

Burlington police believe Suggs may have become disoriented and traveled north on U.S. 29 into southern Virginia, near South Boston or Clarksville, when she went missing.

A previously issued Silver Alert for Suggs was cancelled by the Burlington Police Department at 8:54 p.m. Saturday.

i don't see how the dog could have survived that long unless he was able to come and go from the car. maybe she got lost but didn't die on 9/10.
