Police: Man found on Durham Freeway was shot at club
Posted December 12, 2009
Durham, N.C. — Police think a fight at a club led to the death of a Durham man early Saturday.
Around 12:45 a.m., an officer stopped to assist a disabled vehicle that was partially blocking northbound traffic on the Durham Freeway, between Chapel Hill Street and Swift Avenue, police said. Inside the vehicle, the officer found a man who had been shot.
Investigators believe Guadalupe Alejandro Lira, 35, was shot after a disturbance at a Miami Boulevard club and that friends were taking him to the hospital.
Lira died at an area hospital of his injuries, police said.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call Investigator A. Smith at 919-560-4440, ext. 29336, or Crime Stoppers at 683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
