According to the Garner Police Department, officers received a report of a person with a gun on the 100 block of Broughton Street. North Garner Middle School went into a code yellow lockdown due to its proximity to the scene. Police said "evidence of a crime" was found at the location.
Neighbors told WRAL News they heard gunshots from the home on previous occasions.
Authorities said the incident was isolated to a home on Broughton Street, and there was no direct threat to the school.
No injuries were reported and police officers are still investigating the scene.
