Police Identify Victim of Durham Slaying

Responding officers found the Sean Kali Buwe lying on the sidewalk near the corner of Liberty and Elm streets Wednesday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police Thursday identified a man killed in a shooting on Liberty Street.

Responding officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk near the corner of Liberty and Elm streets Wednesday night. Sean Kali Buwe, 18, of Sima Street, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Buwe was walking on Liberty Street when a man in dark clothing got out of a burgundy van or SUV, walked up behind Buwe and shot him. Witnesses said the shooter then fled in the vehicle, which was driven by another person.
