DURHAM, N.C. — Authorities on Monday identified the victim of a fatal shooting Friday that occurred when someone tried to break into a mobile home in Durham County.

Oscar Armando Elfaro, 42, was killed by someone inside the home in the 300 block of Stoney Creek Circle, authorities said.

Four people were in the home, and investigators said they believe the intruder had a relationship with someone there. An altercation occurred, and shots were fired, they said.

Authorities are still trying to locate Carlos Hernandez, who they believe fired the fatal shot and then left. He is described as Hispanic and in his early to mid-40s and might be driving a small red sedan.

Investigators said they haven't determined whether any crime occurred in the shooting.

Anyone with information on Hernandez's whereabouts is asked to call the Durham County Sheriff's Office at 919-560-0880 or the sheriff's office tip line at 919-560-7151.
