Police: Homeless man stole Christmas presents

Durham police arrested a homeless man for allegedly breaking into an Elm Street home and stealing several Christmas presents.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested a homeless man for allegedly breaking into an Elm Street home and stealing several Christmas presents.

Investigators said that Virgil Laurentino Bond broke into the house Dec. 12 and stole gifts, including a doll house, DVD player, PlayStation, several games and two coats.

Officers arrested Bond Saturday and charged him with burglary and larceny. He was being held Sunday in the Durham County Jail under a $37,500 bond.

Bond has a long criminal record dating to 1991, including multiple convictions for selling drugs, larceny, forgery and credit-card theft, according to state Department of Correction records.
