GARNER, N.C. — A shooting that wounded a 24-year-old man on Thursday evening was most likely an accident, Garner police said.

Investigators said a relative shot Christopher Neil Currie in the back at 1020 Vandora Springs Road shortly before 8 p.m.

Currie was transported to WakeMed, where hospital officials said he was in fair condition on Friday morning.

Sgt. Joe Binns said officers were talking with the district attorney's office but did not expect to file charges in the shooting. Officers withheld the relative's name as the investigation continued.
