FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Police are investigating Thursday after the resident of a Fuquay-Varina home was involved in a gun fight with two men who tried to break into the house.

Officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to 316 Ginwood Ct. in the Phillips Pointe subdivision to a report of shots fired. Police said two men drove up in a beige or tan sedan, forced their way into the house and fired multiple rounds into the home.

A person inside the home returned gunfire, police said, and the suspects fled toward Judd Parkway in the same vehicle.

No one was injured in the exchange of gunfire, but police said an unoccupied neighboring residence was struck by a bullet.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Fuquay-Varina Police Department at 919-552-3191 or Sgt. Jeff Wenhart at 919-753-1006.
