CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A University of North Carolina senior found dead in his Chapel Hill apartment last Thursday is not likely the victim of foul play, police said Monday. An official cause of death is pending.

Police have requested an autopsy for 21-year-old Harris Pharr, of Raleigh.

Pharr was studying biomedical engineering and was a  brother of the Alpha-Alpha Chapter of Chi Phi fraternity. He was found at his apartment, at 500 Pittsboro St., just before 6 p.m. Thursday evening.

Pharr's death is not the first for the fraternity. In October 2012, 18-year-old David Shannon died after climbing machinery at a concrete plant in Carborro and falling about 40 feet.
Police in January said they will not close that case until they can prove whether the 18-year-old was alone when he fell to his death.
