Police: Fayetteville couple beat man to death over debt
A Fayetteville woman wanted on a murder charge surrendered to police Saturday, a day after her husband was arrested in the slaying of a man whose body was found dumped on a remote trail on Fort Bragg's grounds eight months ago.

Investigators said that Jimmy and Ann Marie Bailey killed Angel Pesante-Ventura, 31, because he owed them money. Police said he was beaten to death with baseball bat last September at the Baileys' Derrdowne Court home.
Pesante-Ventura's body was then dumped along Plank Road, near Hobson Road, in the Hoke County section of Fort Bragg, police spokesman Gavin MacRoberts said. Soldiers training in nearby woods found the body on Sept. 27.
Police arrested Jimmy Bailey, 33, on a charge of first-degree murder Friday at the Amtrak train station across from the police department.
Ann Marie Bailey, 33, who also goes by Ann Marie Carpenter, surrendered to police Saturday morning.
The husband and wife were both placed in the Cumberland County jail and denied bond.
