CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill officials on Friday said a downed power line landed on a city transit bus on East Franklin Street.

It's unclear if anyone was injured when the line went down around 9:30 a.m.

A photo tweeted by Chapel Hill police shows tree branches lying on top of the power line.

Chapel Hill police said E. Franklin Street was closed from Raleigh Street to Park Place while Duke Energy worked to fix the line.

High winds around central North Carolina took out power to thousands of customers earlier Friday morning. A nor'easter swirling on the East Coast helped funnel some of the winds into the Tar Heel State.
