Condolences to his loved ones. It's so sad when folks, especially young ones, decide that life is no longer worth living and things will never get better. I do wonder about a connection of sorts between this jumper and the one last week. Those 2 ARE the first I've heard around here of jumping off a bridge.

That said, WE, THE PUBLIC, drive what they report and the sensationalism with which they report it. If we didn't feel like we have a RIGHT to know every single detail then maybe they wouldn't report them....doubt it but maybe

You really think the only reason this guy committed suicide is because he read that someone else jumped off a bridge? That his life was fine until he read a news report then suddenly thinks, hey, that's a good idea, i'll go do that? You're stretching a long bow there.

I can see where you're coming from with your post.... I too saw the article last week about someone jumping off a bridge, and when I read this headline I thought to myself that it was probably not coincidence. However, don't you think that someone who feels life is no longer worth living would find another way to end their life even if last week's article weren't printed? From my experience, a person who is absolutely positive they want to take their life is going to find a way no matter what; So yes I agree with you that this man may have copied someone else because they read about it, but there's also a good chance we would be reading a different article about this person killing himself in some other way had last week's article not been posted.

To WRAL - why did you allow welfarequeens comment to post?

  • davework Feb 10, 2014

"Welfarequeen" was probably one of the idiotic rubberneckers parked at the top of the overpass that day just to look. Seems like that type of person

Gotta agree with T-Man. There's a time and place for everything. An article about someone who felt life wasn't worth living isn't the time for an ignorant comment on politics.

Seriously? Someone died and all you can do is make stupid political jokes? Come on!

It's easy to become depressed if you are a republican and suddenly realize that you will NEVER have the white house again.
