Part of eastbound Interstate 540 in Raleigh was closed for more than two hours Sunday afternoon, police said, after a man jumped from an entrance ramp.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Part of eastbound Interstate 540 in Raleigh was closed at Glenwood Avenue for more than two hours Sunday afternoon, police said, after a man jumped onto the highway.

Officers were called to the area around 1 p.m. after the man, in his 20s, jumped from the I-540 entrance ramp off U.S. Highway 70.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was reopened shortly after 3 p.m.

According to the school, administrators received a report of a person with a firearm on the football field. The tip was just a report, and it remains unclear if a gun was on campus, according to the school.
