<b>CARY, N.C.</b> — A 47-year-old Cary man charged with killing a dog with a sword will make his first court appearance Monday.

Douglas Joseph Hagler, of 519 S. Harrison Ave., is charged with one count of felony cruelty to animals.

Investigators say Hagler repeatedly stabbed a dog named Koda with a sword on Saturday. Hagler was given a $5,000 bond following his arrest.
