Police: 34-year-old Fayetteville man charged with statutory rape of teen
Fayetteville police arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to a statutory rape investigation involving a teenager.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Wednesday morning said they arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to a statutory rape investigation involving a teenager.
Linwood Melvin, of the 3600 block of A B Carter Road, Fayetteville, was charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. He was jailed under a $20,000 bond.
The investigation occurred on Oct. 20, according to the department. Melvin is an acquaintance of the 14-year-old victim.
