HENDERSON, N.C. — Police said a 31-year-old man surrendered to authorities Friday in connection to the shooting death of another man last week in Henderson.
Marcus Small turned himself in Friday and was charged with first-degree murder, according to the Henderson Police Department. He was jailed under no bond.
Police said Small was charged in connection to a shooting that happened just before midnight on March 9 on Parham Road. Officers that night found Emmanuel Hargrove, 31, with a gunshot wound. Hargrove was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
The shooting is one of four that happened during the past week in the town of 15,000 people. Community leaders called the shootings a "crisis situation."
