Poisoning Trial Begins in Onslow County

— Testimony began Monday in the 2003 poisoning of an Onslow County 7-year-old.

Kayla Allen's legal guardian, Carolyn Futrell, is charged with first-degree murder.

Toxicology reports showed Kayla died after drinking insecticide.

Social services had investigated 13 allegations of neglect or abuse in the household before Kayla's death.

    This is so tipical of DSS, remember the little boy in Johnston Co. wapped so tightly he died, and you hear of this all the time now. What's wrong with the State of N.C . to let these people at DSS and the Parol Officers keep their jobs when they are not doing them. Take these babies out of these homes the first time anything is reported if it turns out not to be true at least you have a live baby to return.

    What I want to know is why the Dept. of Social Services did not take the chile from the home in the first place then none of this would have happened. 13 calls to investigate the same person.

    I heard about this several months back. Its a very very sad case and I hope this women spends the rest of her life locked up. The things she did to that child was awful.
