CARY, N.C. — Despite protests from neighbors, a proposed office park at the intersection of Piney Plains and Stephens roads moved forward Thursday night.

The Town Council voted to send plans for Wimberly Associates' 450,000-square-foot office park on the 16-acre site near Cary Crossroads to the Planning and Zoning Board.

Residents in the nearby Wellington Park subdivision said they fear increased stormwater runoff, which could flood their property, and traffic congestion from the project.

Two years ago, Wimberly Associates proposed a 350-unit condominium development for the site. The Cary Town Council rejected the plans after neighbors protested.

The developer filed suit against Cary over that failed project.
