ANGIER, N.C. — A small plane stopped short of taking off Saturday morning at a private airstrip near the Johnston-Harnett county line in Angier.

The single engine airplane attempted to take off when one of the wheels hit a hole causing the plane to spin around, authorities said.

The pilot, Gregory Walker, 51, of Apex, and the owner of the airplane/instructor, Robert Parker, 64, said they didn’t need any medical treatment.

Coats Fire and Coats Rescue responded to the scene in reference to leaking fuel, and the FAA was notified of the incident, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said.
