DURHAM, N.C. — An American Eagle jet heading from Atlanta to New York made an unscheduled landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Thursday after reporting a mechanical problem, airport officials said.

Flight 3419, which was carrying 54 passengers and four crew members, landed without incident about 3:15 p.m., RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said.

Officials did not immediately say what kind of mechanical problem was reported.

Hamlin said American Eagle was making arrangements for the passengers to continue to LaGuardia Airport in New York.
