Authorities said a pedestrian died Thursday night on Highway 55 in Apex.

<b>APEX, N.C.</b> — Authorities said a pedestrian died on Highway 55 near the Cameron Woods Apartments in Apex.

Investigators said Louie Williams, Jr., 45, of Apex, was lying in the northbound lane of the roadway at 10:21 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a Ford Mustang driven by Phyllis Johnson, 48, of Apex.

According to investigators, Williams had been drinking alcohol. Charges will not be filed against the driver of the vehicle, authorities said.
