Pedestrian struck, killed along I-40 West in south Raleigh

A pedestrian died early Friday after being hit by a car on Interstate 40 West near South Saunders Street in Raleigh, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A pedestrian died early Friday after being hit by a car on Interstate 40 West near South Saunders Street in Raleigh, police said.

Annmarie Elizabeth Perna, 38, was walking across the westbound lanes of I-40 after her car became disabled, police said. She was hit by a 2010 Toyota pickup truck.

The driver was not injured and was not charged in the crash.
