Pedestrian struck by SUV in Durham, police searching for driver

Durham police are searching for the driver behind a hit-and-run crash Saturday night.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are searching for the driver behind a hit-and-run crash Saturday night.

Authorities said a man was crossing Holloway Street at Hoover Road just before midnight when he was struck by a vehicle.

The vehicle involved in the crash is described as a mid to late-90s white or grey SUV with North Carolina license plate NCPFT 7694. The car may be a Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer and likely has substantial front-end damage, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday night.
