Pedestrian killed in Fayetteville hit-and-run

Fayetteville, N.C. — Police are searching for the driver of a truck or SUV that struck and killed a 53-year-old woman in Fayetteville Thursday evening.

Barbara Thaggard, of Lake Avenue in Spring Lake, was crossing Grove Street, near the B Street intersection, when she was hit around 7 p.m. The driver did not stop, police said.

While Thaggard was lying in the road, she was struck by a second vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS.

A friend was hit in Fayetteville just a few weeks ago while out jogging in the morning, and the driver didn't stop for that either. He had to have brain surgery to keep him alive, and they still don't know if he will ever fully recover. I can't believe there are so many people in this area that are that cold hearted to do this and keep going. Guess we see what our society is becoming.
