RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was hospitalized Saturday in critical condition after being struck by a car on Capital Boulevard.

According to police, Kyle Eugene Haskins, 19, of Raleigh, was standing in the median, then tried to run across Capital Boulevard, just north of Brentwood Road, around 11:20 a.m. and was hit.

Haskins taken to WakeMed, where he was in critical condition Sunday.

Police said he was not crossing the road at a crosswalk, and the "don't walk" sign was illuminated. The car driver, Josephine Wiggins, of Wake Forest, had a green light and was traveling at about 40 mph.
