RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man driving on New Bern Avenue early Saturday struck and killed a pedestrian and two dogs, but no charges were expected, police said.

The pedestrian, Mark Russell, was walking two large pitbulls in the lane of traffic, police said, and was hit head-on by a red Ford pick-up truck that had just crossed over Neuse River Bridge.

No charges were expected, police said. Russell was taken to WakeMed, where he later died.
