RALEIGH, N.C. — A parade from the Graham Building to Waterfall State at Dorton Arena will highlight Military Appreciation Day Wednesday at the North Carolina State Fair.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The first 3,000 people through the gates Wednesday will receive a United States flag.

At noon, a program that features that 440th Army Band will begin at the Waterfall Stage. The band will play at 12:30, 3 and 5 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources will hold a military uniform revue.

Living historian Andy Sterlen said the 2 p.m. event will include military uniforms from as early as the American revolution.

"We've set up a display that covers quite a bit of World War I history, too," he said. "There will be a ton of different uniforms."
