Parade highlights Military Appreciation Day at State Fair

Posted October 22, 2014

— A parade from the Graham Building to Waterfall State at Dorton Arena will highlight Military Appreciation Day Wednesday at the North Carolina State Fair.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The first 3,000 people through the gates Wednesday will receive a United States flag.

At noon, a program that features that 440th Army Band will begin at the Waterfall Stage. The band will play at 12:30, 3 and 5 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources will hold a military uniform revue.

Living historian Andy Sterlen said the 2 p.m. event will include military uniforms from as early as the American revolution.

"We've set up a display that covers quite a bit of World War I history, too," he said. "There will be a ton of different uniforms."

And I bet you'll still vote for Troxler and McCrory even though they went to court to take that right away from you.

Were he and his crew passing out homemade cookies again to the common people?

McRrory was at the fair yesterday. Think he had people carrying concealed weapons with him? Were the 200+ officers not enough?

I think this is great! They fight and protect our constitutional freedoms!! Unfortunately, the State Fair takes some of those freedoms away. However, these people still deserve to be honored!

I'm sad that I have to miss this because I am working.

So we are going to appreciate and honor the people that fight for us to keep our rights to bear arms by taking away our legal rights to bear arms. Hmmmm.

This is a good thing! Too bad I have boycotted the Fair.
