CARRBORO, N.C. — Two carjackings occurred in Orange County on Wednesday, Carrboro police said.

A 2015 white BMW X5 with North Carolina license plate CDH-1051 was taken at gunpoint at about 5:45 p.m. from a home in the Lake Hogan Farms subdivision off of Homestead Road, police said. A man got out of a Nissan Versa parked in the neighborhood and approached the BMW as the driver pulled into a driveway, and the Versa drove off after the BMW was stolen, police said.

The Versa crashed as it was leaving the area, and the two men inside then got into the BMW and fled, police said.

The men in the BMW were also involved in a carjacking on Dairyland Road, police said, although that stolen vehicle was later recovered.

Carrboro police asked that anyone in the Lake Hogan Farms subdivision who has a video home security system to call investigators at 919-918-7412 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515 in case their security cameras recorded any activity that could help solve that carjacking.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the carjacking on Dairyland Road. Anyone with information on that case is asked to call the sheriff's office at 919-245-2951 or Crime Stoppers.
