Pair charged with selling knock-off goods, bootleg videos

Posted March 1, 2010

— Cumberland County investigators arrested two men over the weekend on charges they sold counterfeit items, authorities said Monday.

Mark Vincent Johnson, 41, of 713 St. George Road in Raleigh, was charged with criminal use of a counterfeit trademark. Anthony Darnell Rhem, 38, who claims he is homeless, was charged with recording of recorded sounds and distribution and with retailing recorded devices.

Investigators said Johnson was selling counterfeit clothing under the designer names of Nike, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Timberland and Polo from a business on Bragg Boulevard.

In a separate case, investigators said Rhem was bootlegging videos and music compact discs in the business next to Johnson's store.

Every time I go to that Buckhorn Rd flea market in Orange County the State Troopers have a licence check at the exit (Buckhorn Rd) off of 40 W.
That flea market is really shady...and I aint talking about the dark patch under a tree... .... but fun to people watch out there. It used to be better 15 years ago.

Ebay, Craigslist, Flea Markets, Trunks, Parking Lots. Counterfeit merchandise is everywhere and it seems no one cares, not even the manufacturers who are being infringed upon. It has increased significantly over the years. You can drop ship counterfeit goods directly from China. You can make a killing. i just dont have the heart to do it. Its illegal and supports the Chinese Triad. Please do not support the Chinese Triad!! Just buy a cheaper LEGAL alternative. Many counterfeit items are harmful to you and made under no regulations!!

These jokers are everywhere. Some of their favorite perches are in parking lots at WalMart, Lowes, Target, Home Depot, Sheetz, and so on, and so on.

Clue to the public; If you buy name brand clothing, CD's and DVD's in a parking lot from a gentlemen in an 85 Caprice with 24's and a shiny grille and curb feelers, chances are their goods aren't what you want if you're after quality.
