DURHAM, N.C. — Police said Tuesday they have arrested two men following a Sunday night carjacking on Chalk Level Road in Durham.

A woman told officers she was parking her 2003 Toyota Corolla at an apartment complex at 901 Chalk Level Road at about 7:30 p.m. when a man with a gun approached and demanded her car. The woman said she was able to get her 3-year-old child out of the car before the gunman got in the car and drove off.

K9 Officer K.A. Schooley spotted a car matching the description of the stolen car about two hours later on East Main Street and attempted to stop it. The driver jumped out and ran, but he was caught a few minutes later by Schooley and her K9, Kendo.

Tony Lamont Rochelle, 18, of Durham, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, larceny of a vehicle, three counts of felony probation violation, one count of misdemeanor probation violation and failure to appear in court on earlier charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor probation violation, as well as a federal detainer on a federal charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held without bond in the Durham County jail.

Antoine Dwight Blake, 17, of Durham, who was in the car when it was stopped, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and was being held under a $2,500 bond.
