HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Orange County residents will begin receiving their property revaluation notices in the mail next week, officials said Wednesday.

The county Tax Assessor’s Office recently completed its four-year reassessment of property values to ensure the tax value of homes, businesses and other real estate reflected the market value.

Since property was last valued by county assessors in 2004, the market value of Orange County properties increased by an average of 20 to 30 percent, officials said.

Assessments are available online as well.

Property owners will have a chance to appeal the new values assigned by assessors, officials said.
