DURHAM, N.C. — An Orange County man was shot to death inside his home early Sunday, authorities said Monday.

Brandon Lee, 29, was killed during a domestic dispute in the home at 3601 Brockwell Road at about 8 a.m., according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Kellie Younts, 25, called 911 to report the shooting, authorities said, but no charges have been filed against her.

The case remains under investigation.

"This loss of life is unfortunate and reminds us that our community is not immune to domestic violence. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I encourage Orange County residents to educate themselves about this serious public health issue," Sheriff Charles Blackwood said in a statement.

The sheriff’s office Crisis Unit can assist victims of domestic violence and can be reached at 919-245-2900, and the Compass Center for Women and Families, which also provides assistance, can be reached at 919-929-7122.
