Operation on I-95 Nets Drugs, Cash

A cross-agency law enforcement crackdown along I-95 netted 34 violations, 269 grams of drugs and $8,700 in cash.

HALIFAX, N.C. — A cross-agency law enforcement crackdown along I-95 netted 34 violations, 269 grams of drugs and $8,700 in cash.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office, along with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement, the State Bureau of Investigation and the N.C. National Guard participated in the two-day operation.

The bulk of the seized property came from two arrests.

Anthony Michael Charles Reeves, 22, of Emporia, Va., was found to have 198 grams of marijuana, 46 grams of powder cocaine and one dose of crack cocaine in his car, along with a loaded 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, digital scales and various items of drug paraphernalia. Officers seized his vehicle and Reeves was confined to the Halifax County Jail under a $60,000 secured bond.

In another traffic stop, officers found $8,650 hidden in the trunk of a vehicle. Officers seized that money.
