Man, 20, killed in Wake County crash

Apex, N.C. — A 20-year-old man from Maryland was killed Friday night in a crash on the Triangle Expressway north of Apex, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Andrew Shank was driving about 70 mph while exiting the highway at N.C. Highway 55 when he crossed all four lanes of traffic, went airborne and landed upside down in an embankment off the highway.
Shank was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck happened at about 11 p.m., and officials closed a portion of the highway until about 2 a.m. Saturday.
